Audrey Denney Statement on DHS Spending Bill

“Democrats are at a decision point, and this is where leadership matters.

The DHS funding bill in Congress pours more money into ICE without enforceable limits, accountability, or guardrails. We must not cross that line.

ICE has become a militarized force that bypasses the rule of law and erodes constitutional rights. When that happens, Congress must act. Continuing to fund this agency without meaningful guardrails is not governance. It is complicity.

Democrats should reject this bill, and begin the work of replacing it with systems rooted in due process, accountability, and real community safety.

This is a reminder that it’s not enough to just elect Democrats. We have to elect Democrats willing to fight for what matters when it matters most.”
